We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Blair Elementary School. We believe that students are at the heart of the choices and decisions that we make on a daily basis. Our mission statement continually provides direction for our school: At Blair School we envision a joyful community that: Celebrates Learning, Treasures Each Child, Values Diversity, Teaches The Ethic Of Caring, and Honours The Wonder Of Our Universe.
Blair Elementary is a great place to learn. The school has a warm, friendly environment where students are encouraged to explore, ask questions and take risks as they progress in their learning. At Blair we recognize and celebrate individual needs and differences and encourage each student to work to his or her potential. The staff is dedicated to providing a rich program of instruction focusing on the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will help our students contribute to society and the future.
As a staff, we believe that effective communication is crucial to building and maintaining a positive working relationship between home and school. The parents at Blair Elementary are an integral part of the team. Working together as partners, we can spark your child's curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. Our close working relationship as a home-school team can do much to contribute to your child's happiness and success at school.
Every month, a newsletter will be emailed to all families. The newsletter is printed on blue paper and is outside the school office. Important information especially special dates and celebrations is included so please make sure you receive the newsletter. As a further means of communication, our school's web site is updated regularly with important information as well.
We believe that positive and trusting relationships between the home and school are vital to the success of our students. These relationships are encouraged and fostered by your enthusiastic participation in your child's school life. We encourage parents to participate in the daily learning activities of their child by talking to their child about their learning and by using planners to openly communicate with their child's teacher. There are also many other opportunities for parents to connect with the school by being active members of the PAC, by attending sporting and musical events, student-led conferences and parent-teacher interviews.
We appreciate your suggestions, your information and your concerns, and hope that you will feel comfortable sharing the same with us. If you wish more information about your child's school work or you have any suggestions or comments as to how we can better support your child's school experience, please contact your child's teacher or us at the school office.
