Culture Wheels - Division 10

As part of our Identity projects, students of Division 10 have been working hard and learning about themselves and their family heritage.  We have been focusing on the Core Competency, the Positive and Cultural Identity Competence, which focuses on relations and cultural contexts, personal values and choices, and personal strengths and abilities.  It’s fascinating to see how the students are beginning to understand that culture is made up of language, values, beliefs and traditions, as well as the students feeling a sense of pride of who they are. One of the activities that the students created was their own culture wheel. There were 4 sections: object from culture, symbol, cultural activity, language. It was a great activity where students could go home and have a discussion with different family members that led to even more stories that were shared.
