Reflection Frame for Evidence: Our Story

Describe the evidence that you brought to share. 

Div. 13 collaborated with the K’s and made a “spring family tree.” After talking about our families and how everyone’s family is special to them, we did a reflection with the “I can statement.” “I can describe my family and community.” It was a free journal write and the students were asked to write about their family.

What are you learning regarding your evidence? What have you noticed through your scanning and observation?  What is going on for your learners? 

I am learning that the students are able to describe their family and they are able to tell me if their family lives here or in a different country. I have noticed that my students are starting to observe that their peers’ families are different than their own, which ties really well into our next portion, cultural diversity.

How is what you are learning now different from when you began in the fall? 

Michelle started with talking about our community in the fall and I carried on with school community and then talking about our family as a community.

What are some next steps you are considering?  

 Talking about where our families originated from (leads us to cultural diversity)
