Being, Becoming, Belonging Framework: Adding Applications

Our first Professional Development Day of the year had time dedicated to our in progress Identity and Belonging Framework.  We took a a trip down memory lane to refresh where we are at currently, we summarised of their excellent work so far (especially to get our new staff up to speed) and then we took the time to consider applications for our framework.

Being in the "Action" stage of the Spirals of Inquiry, our staff is working hard to form and frame our work in a usable framework.  The applications portion is adding what teachers plan to do in their classes, and within the school to nurture our students sense of identity and belonging.  The concentric circles show how the student is at the centre.  Do the actions we take support our students needs?  How do the applications support the competencies of identity and belonging that we have developed?  Upon completion of our framework, we'll post a "How to Use" guide and we will hold a parent session on our work.  What input and perspective will they have?  How might families use our framework?  

Throughout this school year, our hope it that we will finally have a way to hold up our student evidence determine whether or not it is making enough of a difference.  This has been a tension and struggle since the beginning of our school goal.  We'll keep everyone posted!
