Classroom Snapshots: Focussing

Through student surveys, interviews, observations on the school grounds, and general tone throughout the school, we have been able to examine progress of student learning and made some hunches as to the challenges are students are facing.

Each teacher then completed a classroom snap shot to focus on areas of strength and challenge for our students.

The areas of Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL wheel facets) that are our primary students are requiring support in are: self awareness, self management and relationship skills. Our intermediate students are requiring support inĀ developing their relationship skills, social awareness and responsibile decision making.

This led us to teaching specific strategies and lessons focussing on the CASEL wheel facets in order to increase students' social emotional learning skills.
