After gathering data about how we could build inclusivity and a sense of belonging at Blair, the students collaborated to design a Community Bench for everyone to access and use.​

Students and teachers contributed to the creative design process after the Leadership team shared three design options with all students in the school. After voting, students overwhelmingly decided to use a peace sign as the anchor.​

The process of activating student voices required staff to recognize the importance of elevating student voice. Students can be a great resource for creative ideas and facilitators of change within a school community.​

When student voice is encouraged, students who typically do not always have agency, or may not be the dominant voice, can experience growth, representation, and demonstrate their individuality.​

The more students were encouraged to express their opinions and voice, the more confidence they gained in their ability to lead, share.  ​
